What is the American Big Band Preservation Society?

The Merchants of COOL Big Band is a member of the American Big Band Preservation Society. The ABBPS is dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage of classic big band music, and to encouraging and educating new generations of big band listeners, players, composers, and arrangers. The Big Band/Swing music is a style of jazz that originated in the United States. This is the music of the “Greatest Generation” and dominated popular music from the 1930s through the early 1950s. Some of the biggest stars of the Big Band era were Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Count Basie and Glenn Miller. So, come on out and give us a listen and we’ll take you back in time as we perform music of these greats.
